This comes after the successful conclusion our 4th Aerospace and Defence MRO Summit, 2023, in Delhi in February this year. STAT Media Group's signature annual event at the Le Meridien in New Delhi saw two fulfilling days of deliberations, debate and knowledge sharing on the ‘Future of Aircraft Maintenance in India’. The event was inaugurated in the presence of stalwarts from the Aerospace and Defence MRO industries, consisting of a full house comprising delegates, speakers, and sponsors. The audience was enthralled by the 'expert speaks' during the Keynote Address, Panel Discussions, and individual Presentations.
India's indigenous aviation MRO sector is in its nascency, with growth potential expected to be significant. The industry size is tipped to increase from US$ 1.7 billion in 2021 to US$ 4.0 billion by 2031, at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 8.9 percent against the expected global CAGR of 5.6 percent.
With more than 1,000 aircraft currently on order, the country is likely to become the third-largest buyer of commercial passenger planes in the world, only after the US and China. This translates into demand for 200–300 major maintenance checks annually. Replacing ageing aircraft in the fleets of several airlines also creates scope for MRO to meet redelivery contracts. India is also poised to become a large defence aircraft market, propelling demand for military MRO capabilities as well.
Foreign investment flow comes in with big players like Airbus, Boeing, Rolls-Royce, Safran, GE Aviation, Collins Aerospace and several others setting up their presence here. The indigenous Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) is poised for big growth with a large chunk of defense-related orders coming its way.
Looking at the huge scope for the Aerospace & Defence sector activity, various states in India have modified their policies offering incentivized solutions and ‘ease of doing business’, to attract foreign and domestic players alike.
